And so, it begins…..
I’ve just completed Wella’s colour craft essentials course, and this was the first step to starting my WCE journey as it’s all the pre courses you need to complete before starting. This was a great refresher course and made sure I was ready to go when I start in March.
Connecting with my course peers was a real highlight for me and it was so nice to be in a class setting, and the support and exchange of tips created a great and inspiring environment. We were all a bit nervous on our first day, but the wella technicians made us all feel at ease and soon we were sharing tips and talking about the industry on our breaks (which is something I do miss now that I am a freelancer!).
Day one & two, delved into the nitty-gritty of product specifics and the technology behind Wella's portfolio. I loved trying out and exploring the "back to natural" formulas on the colour correction day.
On Day 3 this was where we got really creative! We did Pantone matching using wella colour fresh creates and we had creative freedom on a doll's head. Exploring colour placements and face-shaping techniques was both informative and interesting. I love anything to do with colour trends, so this was really up my street! It’s interesting how they take inspiration from fashion and map out the trends for the year. I also tried the new illumina shades which I have been so excited to try!
Day four was the advanced highlighting course. Blondes are my thing, so this was something I was really intrigued about! This course provided valuable insights into the Wella way of highlighting. I learnt about various foiling techniques and prepping my trolley for future colour applications ( this felt like I was unlocking essential skills that I’m going to need once I start my WCE).
